Despite the best the weather could throw at it, making parking a nightmare for the organisers, The Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics show was pronounced a success by visitors and traders alike.
The Classic Racer Grand Prix Paddock proved as popular as ever, especially with guest of honour sidecar star Steve Webster.
Fellow star guest Allen Millyard, who showed a range of incredibly engineered machines on the main stand, even wheeling some of them out to GP Paddock to run up for the appreciative audience.
Dean Want took the honours in the Best Race Bike class with his recently completed Yamaha Cecotto Replica, Steve Leadsum Best TT Machine with the Clive Brown Manx G50, and Real Race Bikes Best GP Paddock Display with a stunning line up of exotic race bikes.
For many race enthusiasts the most interesting lot in the Bonhams auction was the Heuer watch gifted to the late nine-time world champion Mike Hailwood, by the company’s former chairman Jack Heuer, which sold for £56,312.
Racing machinery going under the hammer included: 1927 Norton Model 18 Racing Motorcycle Project sold for £13,800; 1953 Norton 348cc Manx Model 40M Project achieved £13,800; and a 1951 AJS 7R 350cc Racing Motorcycle, believed to be the former works machine of Bob McIntyre, realised £36,800.
