Victory for people power. Brighton Speed Trials will continue!

Earlier we reported that the Council had concerns over the safety of the event and whether it fitted in with Brighton’s future plans. It seemed likely the event would be blocked. Organisers, The Brighton and Hove Motor Club, started an e-petition, which we aired on Classic Bikers Club, and this resulted in the council receiving 12,430 signatures and a wake-up call of the passion felt by the community and enthusiasts over this traditional Brighton event. The upshot is the council have approved this year’s September trial, with some safety ammendments.

Brighton’s Speed Trials has been running in Brighton since 1905 and is one of the highlights of the seafront entertainment calendar. Thousands of people come down for an entertaining fun-packed day out for the whole family to watch some of the UK’s best race cars and motor bikes compete along Madeira Drive. Over two hundred cars and motorcycles, of all descriptions – road cars, race cars and drag bikes – compete to win the fastest in their class. A top six run-off to find the fastest car and bike brings the day to a dramatic close.
