Rough ride for Vinduro competitors

It began with a six mile hare and hounds scramble on the Saturday before the full on time card enduro on the Sunday.

The hare and hounds involves riders completing as many six mile laps as possible within a set time – an hour. The target was five but some completed six or even seven.

On Sunday, the time card enduro consisted of a 12 mile course taking in some of the fast open field work of the Saturday, plus technical forest work and a motocross special test. Each lap had a set time – an hour and 10 minutes for the Clubman class, longer for the Sportsman and shorter for the experts.

The medics had a quiet day despite a few ‘offs’.

It is possible to enter a typical Vinduro event on any pre 87 off-roadster but the majority of riders favour closer to the cut-off date rather than further away from it. The 2012 event saw trail bikes, enduros, MX bikes converted to enduro and even the odd trials bike.
