Here is my first bike in almost 20 years. She is a 1990 Honda Dominator NX650L called Donna. I had no real intention of getting back into motorcycling but during a chance meeting with a friend I had not seen for around 15 years he told me that his brother had an old ‘Dommie’ in his garage gathering dust.

I arranged to see it and we got it started despite it standing for almost four years. The bike is from Spain and was imported into the UK in 1996, used for about a year then put into storage for about 10 years until my mate bought her as a project. As with many ‘projects’ it was never finished as other things took priority so the deal was done and she was mine. I did a few essentials to get her through the MoT and I have been using her during the summer months. I decided to take her off the road recently for a full overhaul and I’m very pleased with my first attempt at a motorbike restoration.
I replaced many parts, including most consumables, fork seals, gaiters, foot peg rubbers, bar grips, bodywork decals and engine bolts. The engine, exhaust, rear shock and other odds and sods were resprayed, while other bits such as the wheels, seat, tank, side-panels, bodywork and mudguard were given a good clean up!
