Bikers from all over England, and some from mainland Europe, will again gather at Trinity Park, Ipswich on Sunday October 6, 2019 for the 28th Copdock Motorcycle Show.
The show is now regarded by many as the largest one day Motorcycle Show of its kind in the UK. Each year the hard working committee try to improve on the previous year’s show and Copdock Classic Motorcycle Club believe their 28th show, with Allen Millyard as this year’s Guest of Honour, could be their best yet.
The Copdock Classic Motorcycle Club is made up of unpaid volunteers and is a non-profit organisation. The club has spent the last twelve months planning this year’s event.
Club Chairman, David Baldry said: “We feel really proud to be staging our 28th show and we want our visitors to share in the committee’s hard work and dedication. Last year, with the sun shining, we had over 150 show bikes, 500 bikes entered on club stands, over 50 individual bike clubs stands and 200 trade stands. This year, with just weeks to go, we are predicting we will exceed those numbers and, if the weather is kind, we are confident we will break our attendance record as well.”
The club’s Publicity Officer said: “This is a show run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. It has gained the respect of the biking fraternity over the years and has evolved into a quality motorcycle show, which embraces many eras of motorcycling and still provides a great family day out.”
The cost of entry with an e-ticket is available from www.copdockmotorcycleshow.co.uk at just £8.50 for adults, with accompanied under 14’s free. Tickets bought on the day are £10. Car parking, bike parking and a show programme are provided free of charge on show day.
This year’s line-up includes:
Special Guest – Allen Millyard: Allen rode to the 2018 Copdock Motorcycle Show on his ‘Flying Millyard’ best described as “five litres of eccentric fun.”
It is 5000cc of v-twin – two cylinders of a radial Pratt and Whitney aero engine – mounted at 60 degrees to some home-made crankcases, nestling inside a chassis completely hand-fabricated at home by Allen in his ever-so-ordinary single garage. Allen proved so popular that we had to invite him back this year as our special guest. Allen has promised to bring a selection of his amazing creations to again wow the crowds.
Tigers Children’s Motorcycle Display Team: The team has been established for 39 years and was set up to allow children the opportunity to learn to ride a motorcycle safely and to perform tricks, stunts and jumps in public shows around the UK.
They are based on the south-coast, near Portsmouth. They train every Sunday and perform in shows from May to November. Their children age from just five to 16 years-old and therefore safety is paramount to them. However, this does not limit them from delivering exciting shows.
The team is run entirely by parents and their aim is to include everyone in making Tigers fun and challenging. They have performed in many shows over the past 39 years, from local carnivals to the MotoGP weekend at Silverstone, as well as the Queens Diamond Jubilee Family Festival in Hyde Park (The only motorcycle display team to have done so).
The Tigers have even trained multiple times with the now disbanded, but still legendary, Royal Signals White Helmets Display Team.
Dougie Lampkin MBE: Also known as Doug, he was born on 23rd March 1976 in Silsden, West Yorkshire. His father, Martin Lampkin, was the first FIM Trial World Championship winner in 1975, and his uncle, Arthur Lampkin, was also a regular winner on the British scrambling circuit in the 1960s.
Dougie Lampkin won five consecutive World Indoor Championships (1997 to 2001) and seven consecutive World Outdoor Championships (1997 to 2003). He has also won four World Team Championships (Trial des Nations) in 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003, six British Adult Championships, two Spanish Adult Championships and the Scott Trial on four occasions.
Dougie’s first major victory came at the European championships in 1993 and he has since accumulated a trophy cabinet most international sportsmen would struggle to match.
Dave Coates Stuntshow: Dave Coates has been stunt riding professionally for more than 28 years. Regularly performing at shows in the UK and Europe, he has also provided the on-track stunt shows for high profile events, such as the British Car GP at Silverstone, BTCC, British Superbikes and the Isle of Man TT.
Using the latest Yamaha bikes, the show is a mixture of excitement, noise, skill and humour that will leave you both amazed and smiling. A world record holder too, there isn’t much Dave has not been involved with over the years.
Alongside Dave will be commentator Wayne Kershaw, who will support Dave by talking through to everyone exactly what his routine entails, as he does it. He’ll be talking about the bikes and what is involved in doing the tricks, interacting with the crowd and generally giving Dave some light-hearted abuse at every opportunity.
The Custom Bikes Marquee: A new attraction for 2014, the 60 metre marquee is dedicated to all things custom. Visitors will find custom-related traders, paint shops, accessories and custom show bikes. The custom area is now one of the most popular attractions at the show. This year the marquee can be found in the President’s Ring next to the main Show Hall.
Ken Fox’s ‘Wall of Death’: We are so pleased to announce that once again we have Ken Fox’s “Wall of Death” at this year’s show. One of only two of its kind left in the country, the Wall of Death always draws the crowds to watch this electrifying live show, with riders performing stunts 18-feet off the ground on a vertical circular wall.
In the Grand Ring: Along with The Tigers Children’s Motorcycle Display Team, the show also has a Motoball Display. The teams have kindly come along to the show to promote their sport and will be giving demonstrations of Motoball in the Grand Ring throughout the day.
Trials Arena: The show is pleased to have a dedicated Trials Arena at the show. The Arena has been built and organised by the Ipswich Motorcycle Club, the leading club for trials riders in the local area.
As well as displays throughout the day from the award-winning riders of the Ipswich Club, our special guest Dougie Lampkin will also be demonstrating his skills in this arena.
Arena 2: Visitors will get to see a cavalcade of bikes from the past, including pre-65 scrambler displays from local race teams.
Now a firm favourite with the crowds, cavalcades consisting of bikes from the Eastern Fourstroke Association will take place throughout the day.
Norwich Newstars Youth Grasstrack Club will be with us once again to promote their club and to give demonstrations of their machines and equipment.
Other attractions include: CAMRider Motorcycle Training, the show’s main sponsor, will be providing tasters of motorcycling to novice riders in the Tarmac Arena.
The show will feature five motorcycle manufacturer’s promotional vehicles on site showcasing their latest motorcycles. These will include bikes from BMW, Kawasaki, KTM Triumph and Yamaha.
Also at the show will be hundreds of trade stands, over 50 motorcycle club stands, a large autojumble area, show bikes, live music, food, real ale from the award winning ‘Dove Street Inn’ and much, much more.
Tickets are on sale at the CCMC Stand for this year’s Grand Draw at just £1, the prize is a brand new Royal Enfield Continental GT 650cc twin. The winning ticket will be drawn by Dougie Lampkin on the Tarmac Arena after the presentations at around 4.15pm. This year all the proceeds of this draw will go to the SERV (The Bloodrunners) Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
The continuing success of the show has enabled the
club to donate over £500,000 to charities and good causes to date. Over 30
different organisations have benefited from the show’s success. The main
beneficiaries over the last few years have been SERV Suffolk and Cambridge,
Suffolk Family Carers, Treehouse Appeal, EACH, SARS, Ipswich Hospital (various
wards), CLIC, East Anglian Air Ambulance and MAGPAS.
