While studying industrial design at Leeds Polytechnic in 1974, I discovered a Norman B2CS trials bike in several boxes under a workbench.
It belonged to one of the technicians and plainly it had been used and abused as a field bike. It looked dreadful, with several coats of red and green paint covering large amounts of rust.
The owner assured me that he’d dismantled it himself, and that everything was there, so a deal was struck and it changed hands.
It came with the original buff log book, but as that was full of the names of previous owners, I sent it off for a replacement.
Despite my request for the original to be returned, it was destroyed and lost for ever.
