It’s going to be the north’s biggest and best biking event, and we want to see YOU there. On August 9-10, Motor Cycle Monthly will be taking over the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston, Edinburgh to host the Carole Nash Great Scottish Bike Show.
With dealers, manufacturers, trade stands, displays, clubs and much more, it’ll be a fantastic weekend for the family, where you can also enjoy Supermoto racing, Moped Mayhem and trials demonstrations – it really is a show for everyone, from classic fans to tourers, adventurers and modern sportbike riders.
If that’s not enough, you can meet one of the world’s greatest ever racers: Giacomo Agostini. With 122 Grand Prix victories and 15 World Championship titles, the Italian racer will be talking about his life on two wheels, meeting visitors and presenting awards.
Ago is the only man, besides Valentino Rossi, to have surpassed 100 GP wins. Accompanying him at the event will be Alex George, a three-time Isle of Man TT race winner who’s sure to be popular in his native Scotland.
See the Purple Helmets’ show
If you want the wildest stunt shows, The Isle of Man’s Purple Helmets will be there to entertain with their crazy antics. Watch out for Honda C90 commuter mopeds going where they’ve never gone before; Death-defying stunts in the air, in water and, occasionally, on the ground. Don’t miss the motorcycling piano and the baked bean powered green energy machine!
Apparently, these modern-day troubadours sleep together in a large round bed and mostly eat twigs and leaves that they collect from local plantations. None of the Purple Helmets go by their real names; they all have stage names to protect their identities from both women and dentists. During still autumn nights they can often be heard singing each other to sleep, and the orange glow from their peat fire can be seen from many miles away.
Try a Yamaha MT for yourself
Building on the critical acclaim the extraordinary new MT range is receiving, Yamaha has created a unique and exciting tour where riders can ‘Experience the Dark Side of Japan’ riding one of the latest MT models, including the MT-09 Street Rally and new MT-125, while also enjoying a whole host of other riding experiences. Yamaha will have all these bikes at the show, so this is your chance to have a ride yourself!
The tour showcases every bike in the MT range, and offers the perfect way to be able test ride a range of MT models, many fitted with genuine Yamaha accessories like screens, rear-sets, seats and Akrapovic exhausts. A fleet of MT models will be available for demo road tests for riders with a full motorcycle licence – while novices, A1 and A2 licence holders can sample the MT-125 and the 35kW version of the MT-07 on a special test course with instructors on hand to assist.
The MT Tour also hosts the official launch of the new MT-09 Street Tracker which will be seen for the first time in public, plus, sitting alongside will be the MT-125 which is not due to arrive in dealerships until later in the year.
In addition to the unique test ride opportunity the MT Tour events will include the incredible Dave Coates Stunt Show, the chance to have a go on the MT-09 Extreme Wheelie Machine, plus visits from various Yamaha VIPs, the amazing MT Tour truck with exclusive MT apparel and accessories on display, a paddock for existing MT owners with special prizes, exclusive finance, insurance services and much more.
And as if this was not enough there will be a chance to win a brand new MT-07! By simply picking up a MiYamaha PCP finance quotation at the event, riders will be entered into a prize draw and one lucky tour visitor from the five events will win a new MT-07. Riders wanting a test ride can either book on the day, or in advance at www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk
