An auction of special motorcycle memorabilia at Newark Showground in June saw over £1500 raised for charity which was split between the ambucopter and the TT Riders’ Association.
And today, pilots and paramedics from the dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service received a cheque for £750 from Classic Bike Shows’ exhibition manager Nick Mowbray.
“The air ambulance is funded entirely by charity so it’s always fantastic to receive donations, they are what keep us flying,” said paramedic Richard Irwin.
“Having the service available is an incredible asset to the region but we should never forget that it takes approximately £1.8 million every year to keep us in the air so every little bit helps.
“Each job that we fly costs £800 to £1000, so to receive a donation for £750 almost covers the expense of one mission which is fantastic.”
The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance first began flying operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994. It is capable of flying at speeds of just under 160mph and can reach any point in the two counties in less than 20 minutes.
