Accompanied by a guide for safety, Chris, from Altrincham spent June 7 blindfolded as he attempted everyday tasks such as making breakfast and catching a bus. It was all to raise awareness and funding for the Henshaws Society for Blind People.
As part of the day, he rode pillion on a scooter in the fundraising Sausage Run (all participants get a sausage sandwich) from the society’s Resource Centre in Old Trafford to its centre in Knaresborough.
Before the day , Chris said: “I’d already practised for 30 minutes with a blindfold, and that was bad enough. The feeling of vulnerability, claustrophobia and total dependence upon my Henshaws guide Mark Belcher was unnerving. Imagine knowing that you will never see again.”
