This year’s Reunion took place on July 22 and the featured marque was Sunbeam, as 2012 marks the centenary of the first Marston Sunbeam motorcycle. Vic Youel of the Owners’ Club managed to muster no less than 31 examples of the Wolverhampton-built bikes. Fitting neatly within the pre-war age requirement for admission to the Clubhouse paddock area, the bikes formed an impressive black and gold display by the old Shell filling station. The 1927 Model 9 of Michael Bockh received an award as it was judged to be the best of those present.
Rudge, Norton, Triumph, Velocette and a brace of Scotts could be found as part of the bike display. Long-time racer David Beckett was having an outing on his recently-acquired ‘Stylson’, a rare French bike that used a Blackburne engine in a very brief production run.
For those that wished, there was a session for ascents on Test Hill as well as a quick blind along the Members’ Banking to round off the day.
