Derek will be best remembered for his win in the 1953 IoM Junior Clubmans TT, on a Gold Star. He followed this with success in Manx Grand Prix, short circuit races and the gruelling nine hour Thruxton races.
In 2003 Derek was reunited with his recently restored TT winning machine, which he paraded on the Island that year. In 2006 his achievements on a Gold Star were recognised by the Gold Star Owners’ Club when he was made an honorary member, of which he was most proud.
