Southern 100 Racing has announced that Manx Radio will continue to be the official broadcast partner for all the races held on the Billown course for 2018.
Manx Radio has been broadcasting the Southern 100 since 1964, the Pre-TT Classic since 1988 and the Post-TT since 1991, becoming official broadcast partner for all three events in 2013.
Club secretary George Peach said: “As organiser of three prestigious events on the Billown course it is important that we have first-class commentary, not only around the course keeping the spectators informed but also via the radio, website and apps to what is now a worldwide audience.”
Manx Radio’s Alex Brindley commented: “As the Isle of Man’s national public service broadcaster, Manx Radio is delighted to be continuing its support of such a key part of the Island’s sporting calendar in the Southern 100 and Pre- and Post-TT races.”
This year sees the 30th anniversary of the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races.
The dates for the 2018 road races on the Billown course are: Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 25, 26 and 27. Should the Saturday practice on the TT course not take place, the main race day for the Pre-TT Classic Road Races will move to Bank Holiday Monday, May 28. The Radcliffe Butchers Post-TT Road Races run on Saturday, June 9.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company International Southern 100 Road Races take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 9, 10, 11 and 12th.

After the death of June Beardmore in December 2017, Southern 100 Racing has been informed that her husband John died in hospital on Monday, January 8.
Both John and June were long-time supporters of the Southern 100 Road Races and had been attending the races at Billown for more than 40 years.
