Club ‘recruiting sergeant’ George Plumb said: “Anyone who was demobilised after the war will tell you it was a very happy period, a great time to be alive, home and safe. Basically, the proposition is that the war is over, so grab whatever you can on two or three wheels and enlist.
“Our war ended in 1949 when just about everyone was back on civvy street after the war effort so if you have a motorcycle made between 1931 and 1949 come along and join in the fun.
“We want to see all types of bikes entered and not just WD machinery. The event is planned to be a simple, low cost social run with no frills – in keeping with rationing, which was still in place in 1949, and the recession we are in now.
