Former WSB ace Robbie Phillis gets his kicks Post Classic racing these days

The organising team have refined some aspects of the meeting with Friday to be the practice day, qualifying on Saturday morning with the racing running through till Sunday 5pm. This allows the sizeable contingent of out of town competitors the Labour Day Monday to travel home and affords the opportunity for a possible Sunday social after the prize giving.

The inaugural event saw 299 competitors entered including 38 Australians and 13 from the South Island, making it New Zealand’s largest ever International Road Race meeting, which featured Robbie Phyllis and Cam Donald.

While more Australian competitors are expected this year a lot more local machines are also being prepared for this special celebration. Some Post-Classic classes were at near capacity last year and organisers expect the Saturday qualifying will be used to sort out the race fields and reserves for the race programme over the weekend.
