The brainchild of BBC Radio 2 Breakfast DJ Chris Evans, the self-appointed ‘King of Classics’ recently announced that Friday April 4, 2014 will be the first National Classic Car & Bike Day and is calling for owners to offer friends and colleagues a lift to work in exchange for charitable donations to Children In Need.

Fully supporting the national celebration and charity initiative, Carole Nash is the only insurance broker who has reviewed its policies ahead of Friday and amended them to ensure that as many policy holders as possible are covered for commuter use on National Classic Car & Bike Day.

Carole Nash Director of Cherished Cars, Peter McIlvenny, said; “Like Chris we’re hugely passionate about classic vehicles and his initiative is hugely admirable but it could leave owners at risk if they’re only covered for social, domestic and pleasure use which most classic policies are.

“Allowing motorists to really enjoy the first National Classic Car & Bike Day whilst raising much needed funds for BBC Children In Need, we’re offering all of our policyholders commuter cover as standard for the entire day. We’re very much hoping that this gesture encourages as many people as possible to take part and really celebrate Britain’s love affair with classic motors.”

The amended policy is automatically available to all Carole Nash car and motorcycle policyholders and will last for 24 hours starting 12.00am on Friday April 4, 2014. Individual policies will revert back to their original agreement after National Classic Car & Bike Day.

The extra cover is included at no additional cost although policy holders are advised to contact a Carole Nash representative in advance to confirm.
