More than 30,000 normally show up at the Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show at Stafford County Showground, and the first great reason to get along is that the special guest this year is former 250cc GP champion and 500cc legend Christian Sarron. The Frenchman will be adding his own brand of Gallic charm to proceedings and has a wealth of racing memories he wants to share with you.
Secondly, stunt rider and former top trials ace Steve Colley is going to be wowing the crowds with his display: he also looks a good deal better in lycra than CMM?editor Bert… so that’s one for the ladies.
Again, the Bonhams auction will be one of the highlights of the show and this year there is a 100-strong collection of classic Japanese motorcycles up for grabs, ranging from the humble Super Cub to Honda’s exotic NR750.
Also, you’ll experience more than 70 club stands from the likes of the VJMC and The Air Cooled RD Club and more hot dog stands and stalls than you can shake your debit card at. So take lots of cash.
The CMM stand hopes to have Niall Mackenzie’s RD350LC on show, Stan Stephens will be signing copies of his autobiography (read elsewhere on these pages about that) and CMM will be holding impromptu Q&A sessions. But don’t ask Bertie anything, he knows nowt.
Do say hello, either at the CMM stand or on the Scottie and Bert autojumble pitch. The mucky buggers are clearing out their sheds/garages as we speak!
The event is held over the weekend of October 19-20, at the Stafford County Showground, ST18 0BD. For more on the show go to: www.classicbikeshows.com
