Included among more than 100 riders, all riding pre-1967 British machinery, were the four riders who have attended all 22 events so far. They were all back to make it 23.

The event also attracted current British Trials Champion James Dabill, who steered his Triumph to a class win, with a loss of three marks, while Paul Edwards (Ariel 500) took the Jack Thompson Trophy, repeating his performance last year.

Bob Onley has contested all the Jack Thompson events, riding in the four stroke rigid, girder fork class on the same bike for 22 of them, a Velocette, which he says was “built out of bits. It probably cost me about £300”. He lost 15 marks, three more than Dave Blanchard on his recently rebuilt Ariel.
