Masaru Iwasaki began his career at Suzuki in 1968 and in 1971 became a development rider working on TR500 and 750 models before playing a major role in the development of the RG500 and while doing so won Japanese championships. Iwasaki San will ride the ex-Barry Sheene 1975 Assen winning XR14 in the parade at the Classic TT.
Makoto Suzuki joined Suzuki in 1971 and was an engine designer and worked on models from the XR05 twin through to the four-cylinder XR35, and also played a large part in the development of the cassette gearbox.
Tadao Matsui worked on engine development at Suzuki from 1963 and the tiny 50cc motor right through to 1981 and Marco Lucchinelli’s world championship 500. He also worked alongside most of Suzuki’s legendary riders, from Mitsuo Ito to Barry Sheene.
