Starting in 47 TT races, Tom Loughridge was the epitome of a motorcycle road racer who, in his own words ‘Lived to race at the TT’.
Although having a particular affinity with Suzuki, it was on Aermacchi machines that he made his Isle of Man debut in the1966 Manx Grand Prix.
Two years later he had his first ride at the TT using Bultacos in both the 125 Ultra Lightweight and 250 Lightweight races.
Then began his long association with Suzuki, particularly in the Production classes – his best result being in the 1971 500cc Production race when he finished fifth.
Partnered by Ian Richards in the 10-lap Production race of 1975, victory looked almost assured but then a stop to repair a broken condenser wire relegated them to 23rd place.
