Waiting almost over for Stafford Show

Entrance to show always have an excellent mix of superbly restored classics

Regular attendees will know that the October extravaganza is all about later stuff but they will also know that we don’t ignore the earlier machines either. Other than that all the regular things that are expected at a show will be there. Including a superb guest of honour in the form of New Zealander Graeme Crosby. Nicknamed the Larrikin Biker by his peers when a youngster, Croz did great things on big Japanese bikes in the race scene of the 1970s and 80s.

There’s the chance to have a bite to eat with Croz too at An Audience With Croz, for 150 lucky fans on Friday evening, October 19, 2012. Anyone who has had the pleasure of hearing Croz tell tales from his racing days will know what a great opportunity this is.

The audience with Croz, which starts at 9pm, will take place at the Tillington Hall Hotel, and tickets cost just £25, which will include a welcome drink. Please note there will be no food served but the Tillington Hall has a superb restaurant and serves bar food.

Classic Dirt Bike Experience
Quarterly publications like our sister publication Classic Dirt Bike have quite a long lead time and the last issue before the show, came out well before we really knew what space we had and what was needed. The Classic Dirt Bike Experience has grown quite quickly to the point where it’s now occupying the whole Staffordshire Life Hall up near the Trade Gate. Its growth is no doubt helped by the classic action going on outside with bikes moving, trials riding demonstrated and occasionally the editor attempting to ride over a car on a trials bike. As of the end of August we’re still looking for interesting and unusual motorcycles to feature in the dedicated show hall. These bikes can be solo or sidecar and trials, MX or enduro and trail are more than welcome.

Graeme CrosbyNaturally as the show is run under the banner of our sister publication Classic Mechanics the focus of the main show is for 1970s and 80s classics and Japanese machinery, we’re not restricted to just them though. What we’d like to see is a broad representation of the classic off-road scene in our halls. There will be guests, interviews, talks and demonstrations going on throughout the weekend up by the Classic Dirt Bike Experience. At the April show we even managed to persuade guest of honour Giacomo Agostini into a trials chair for the delight of the assembled crowd. At October’s show Graeme Crosby is to be the main guest of honour, wonder if we can persuade him to do a bit of off-roading? Anyway, come along to the Classic Dirt Bike Experience and talk dirty, dirty biking that is.
